Manors Golf
Character-driven content for
the hottest new brand in golf
With The Open Championship returning to Northern Ireland for only the second time since 1951, Manors Golf saw a unique opportunity: to create a culturally resonant campaign that captured the spirit of golf in Northern Ireland. Not just the sport but the people, the places, and the stories that define it.
Fresh off the back of their successful collaboration with Reebok – “No Thanks, I’ll Walk”, this project was another statement of intent: authentic, stylish, and rooted in culture.
The Open
The brief was simple but open to our creative interpretation: build hype ahead of The Open with content that speaks to people who live and breathe golf. From Northern Ireland, for the rest of the world – and their large American audience. We needed to communicate not just the game, but the grit, humour, and heritage that run through Portrush, where the identity of the town is as tightly woven with golf as it is with Guinness and Atlantic winds.
Playing It as It Lies
We took a social-first content strategy, built for attention, authenticity, and adaptability. The original plan centred around featuring Manors branded gear but when shipping delays meant the product didn’t arrive on time, we pivoted fast.
Instead of pulling back, we leaned in. We developed a new narrative on the fly that tapped even deeper into local character. We focused on the Harbour Bar (and its dog loving barman Alex), an institution in Portrush and a place that embodies the local humour, resilience, and warmth we aimed to highlight. The setting became the soul of the story.
We shot a character-driven short video piece that felt organic, conversational, and true to the place. The visual style was inspired by archival footage of Portrush – grainy, warm, and nostalgic, paired with old-time music to evoke a timeless sense of heritage, perfectly mirroring the storied character of Portrush and its place in golfing history.
We set a tone that locals would nod at and outsiders would want to be part of. By thinking on our feet we delivered a piece that captured the spirit of Northern Irish golf.
Special thanks
A big thank you to Matt and Alex at the Harbour Bar, and to Luke, Alex and Aidan from Manors Golf for trusting us to help set the tone for the brand during such a significant sporting moment!
